Methodist University at Night

Methodist University at Night provides educational opportunities for non-traditional students such as working adults, those with major family responsibilities and military personnel. Classes are designed for exploring new careers, upgrading professional skills or providing individual enrichment. Two eight week terms are scheduled for the fall and spring semesters, followed by one term each summer. Weekend classes—Friday evening or Saturday morning—are also offered. The majors listed below are currently attainable entirely at night or on the weekend, leading to Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees.

TUITION/FINANCIAL AID

The regular tuition rate for MU at Night (Evening, Weekend, and Summer) for 2011-2012 is $291 per credit hour. Courses taken through MU Online are $370 per credit hour. Students who are active duty military personnel (not including dependents) are eligible for a discounted rate of $250 per credit hour for evening, weekend, summer, or online courses. Financial aid is available. All North Carolina residents (completing their first bachelor's degree), including military personnel and their family members taking a full-time load (12 hours per semester), are eligible for a North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant (NCLTG).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Submit a completed Methodist University at Night & Summer School Application for Admission (Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher; get it or upgrade your version here)
  2. Complete the English Placement Examination (630-7190)
  3. Request official copies of transcripts from university(ies), college(s), technical institute(s), and or junior/community college(s) attended; and a high school/GED transcript be forwarded to the Office of Evening/Summer Admissions.

Students have one semester to complete all admission requirements. Students who do not complete the admission requirements are not fully admitted to the university, and will not be eligible for Financial Aid, Third Party Tuition Assistance programs, or a Methodist University transcript. Students may not return to Methodist University in subsequent terms/semesters until all admission requirements have been completed.

Once a student is accepted, he or she may complete a Data Schedule and bring it to the Office of MU at Night & Summer School (or the Fort Bragg Office for active duty military) so that an advisor can sign off on his or her proposed class schedule.

WITHDRAWAL

Students withdrawing on or before the last day to drop classes will receive a refund of the amount paid. Those students withdrawing from the college after the last day to drop classes will not be eligible for a refund.

VISITING STUDENTS

Applicants seeking admission as visiting students must provide a "visiting student letter" (from their current college or university) to the Evening/Summer Admissions Office. A visiting student is exempt from items 2 and 3 above.
