Orientation
promises to be a fun-filled, information-packed five days. Orientation is the
first step to ensuring a successful academic and social transition to Methodist
University. New students will have the opportunity to move in to their residence
hall, meet fellow classmates and meet with their academic advisor for the first
time. You must pay your enrollment
deposit to participate in the orientation activities, get a course
schedule and get a housing assignment. Check-in is scheduled for 8 am - 1:00
pm on Thursday, August 14. All new residential students (including residential
transfer students) and commuting freshman are expected to participate in all
Orientation activities. Commuting transfer students should participate in all
Orientation events on Friday. Parents are invited to participate in Orientation
activities on Thursday and Friday until 4 pm. Housing will not be provided for
Parents. Here are just a few of the Orientation highlights!
Thursday, August 14
- Residence hall move in
- Welcome and MU Pep Rally
- Family Cookout on the quad
- Residence hall meetings and socials
- Parents mixer
Friday, August 15 – Friday will have a separate
track for parents and students
- Breakfast at President's home (parents) and in the Green & Gold Café
with Orientation Leaders (students)
- Academic advising and academic overview sessions
- Student Development and Services overview and student sessions
- Lunch with University Seminar instructors (students)
- Bell Tower Live - Live music from the Inner
City All-Stars, inflatables and other fun!
- Monarch Madness - Video Bingo with great prizes!
Saturday, August 16
- A Rockfish Experience at Camp Rockfish - This should prove to be one of
the highlights of Orientation as our entire class spends the day at Camp Rockfish.

- Monarch Madness - Foam Dance Party!
Sunday, August 17
- Chapel Service
- Student Development and Services student sessions
- Banquet and MU Induction Ceremony - During this semi-formal banquet, you
will be inducted into the Methodist University community, receive your MU
Student Handbook and be inspired by a special guest speaker.
- Monarch Madness - Daniel
Martin, Magician/Mentalist
Monday, August 18
- Cook Out at The Sink
- University Fair - Learn more about MU clubs, organizations, student life
opportunities and academic programs at this campus-wide event
- Scholars Reception - New and returning Dedman and Wachovia Scholars will
be invited to this informal reception
Tuesday, August 19 - First day of classes
