Loan Entrance Counseling
All first-time Stafford and/or Grad PLUS loan borrowers are required
to complete an Entrance Interview. A first-time borrower is a student
who is receiving a Stafford and/or Grad PLUS loan at Methodist University
for the first time. Entrance Loan Counseling must be completed prior
to the release of the first disbursement of loan proceeds.
The session provides information about the financial aid process
and student loans. This information includes:
- Rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower.
- The consequences of delinquency and default.
- Loan consolidation
- Available repayment options
- Deferment and forbearance options
In addition, the student must complete a quiz at the end of the
counseling session. Students should contact the Office of Financial
Aid with any questions.
If borrowing a Stafford Loan only:
Complete the Stafford Entrance Interview Counseling Session, if
borrowing a Stafford Loan for the first time at Methodist University:

Loan Exit Counseling Session
All students who received Stafford and Grad PLUS loans while attending
Methodist University must complete Exit counseling at the time they
cease to be enrolled at least half-time for more than six months.
This includes students who are Graduating, drop to less than half-time,
or officially/unofficially withdraw. Students who are Graduating
must complete this process in order to get clearance for Graduation.
Students must provide the names, complete addresses and phone numbers
of at least two references on their Exit Counseling form. The references
must be at different addresses (the first reference can be a parent
or guardian) and should know the whereabouts of the student for
at least three (3) years after he/she leaves Methodist University.
The session provides information about repaying loan(s) which includes:
- The rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower.
- The student’s loan repayment options
- Debt management tools to help manage student loans effectively.
- The consequences of delinquency and default.
Contact information, the next of kin and references must be provided.
In addition, the student must complete a quiz at the end of the
counseling session. Students should contact the Office of Financial
Aid with any questions.
