The Minister’s Dependent Scholarship
is equal to one-half tuition and may be awarded to legal dependents/spouses
of full-time licensed ordained ministers (active, retired or deceased)
who are/were members of the United Methodist Church and extended
to all faiths residing in Cumberland County, North Carolina (the
church must also be in Cumberland County). The scholarship may not
be awarded to a dependent/spouse who already has a Baccalaureate
Degree and may be applied only to the regular (day) academic program.
“Dependency” is defined by the Federal Internal Revenue
Service. The scholarship is considered as part of the institutional
cap. However, a student residing off campus will still receive one-half
tuition which exceeds the off campus institutional cap. The District
Superintendent or the minister’s supervisor must submit a
letter to the Office of Financial Aid. The letter must be on church
stationery and must state the student is a legal dependent of the
minister and that the minister is a full time licensed ordained
minister before the student can receive this scholarship. This letter
must be submitted each academic year.
