Our Mission:
The study of history is a critical component of the liberal
arts education, because a basic knowledge of the past is
a prerequisite for engaged participation in the future.
History trains our critical faculties to arrive at a valid
conclusion based on available sources of information. A
history major involves intensive research, reading and writing.
Students learn to comprehend a reasoned argument, analyze
supporting evidence, and articulate its implications. The
study of history prepares students for a wide range of careers.
Many of our recent graduates have pursued teaching careers
while others have pursued law school, business, politics,
and government service.
