Choral
music has always been an important part of the musical life of Methodist
University. Each year, the choirs perform on campus and throughout
the region and state. Ensembles are open to all students regardless
of major. A person's level of involvement is dependent upon one's
interest, time, and musical and vocal maturity.
One unique aspect of the MU Choral Music Program is that emphasis
is placed not only on performance but also on the development of
students' musical literacy. We don't just talk and wish we could
become better musicians - we do something about it. The statement
you will hear frequently is "We don't want you to learn this
piece of music. We want you to learn the music in this piece."
If you have a desire to improve your musicianship, your vocal skills,
and experience some of the finest choral music ever written, then
come sing with us!
