  Tornado Warnings: Residence Halls

When you receive the Alert Now Notification and/or you hear the siren noise, you should do the following:

Weaver

  • Everyone should evacuate to the lowest level (FCA)
  • If there isn’t time you should go into a bathroom or inner hallway or room away from windows and doors.
  • Assume curled seated position, tuck your head to your chest and use your arms to shelter your head from and possible falling debris.
  • Stay at your location until you have been notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.

Garber

  • Everyone should evacuate to the lowest level (RHA)
  • If there isn’t time you should go into a bathroom or inner hallway or room away from windows and doors.
  • Assume curled seated position, tuck your head to your chest and use your arms to shelter your head from any possible falling debris.
  • Stay at your location until you have been notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.

Sanford

  • Everyone should evacuate to the lowest level (Basement)
  • If there isn’t time you should go into a bathroom or inner hallway or room away from windows and doors.
  • Assume curled seated position, tuck your head to your chest and use your arms to shelter your head from and possible falling debris.
  • Stay at your location until you have been notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.

Cumberland

  • Everyone should evacuate to the lowest level (Basement)
  • If there isn’t time you should go into a bathroom or inner hallway or room away from windows and doors.
  • Assume curled seated position, tuck your head to your chest and use your arms to shelter your head from and possible falling debris.
  • Stay at your location until you have been notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.

Pearce

  • If time permits you should evacuate to Weaver Hall to the basement of the building.
  • If time does not permit you should get to the lowest level of the building and go to the inner hallway or room away from doors and windows.
  • Assume the curled seated position, tuck you head to you chest and use your arms to shelter your head from the possible falling debris.
  • Stay where you are until you have been notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.

West

  • If time permits you should evacuate to Garber Hall to the basement of the building.
  • If time does not permit you should get to the lowest level of the building and go to the inner hallway or room away from doors and windows.
  • Assume the curled seated position, tuck you head to you chest and use your arms to shelter your head from the possible falling debris.
  • Stay where you are until you have been notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.

Cape Fear Commons I and II

  • If time permits you should evacuate to Cumberland or Sanford Hall.
  • If time does not permit, everyone should evacuate to the lowest level and you should go into a bathroom or inner hallway or room away from windows and doors.
  • Assume curled seated position, tuck your head to your chest and use your arms to shelter your head from and possible falling debris.
  • Stay at your location until you have notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.

Pines Apartments

  • If time permits everyone should evacuate the Pines apartments to the Soccer Building locker rooms.
  • If time does not permit, everyone should evacuate to the lowest level of the building and you should go into a bathroom or inner hallway or room away from windows and doors.
  • Assume curled seated position, tuck your head to your chest and use your arms to shelter your head from and possible falling debris.
  • Stay at your location until you have been notified by Public Safety that it is safe to come out.
