Stuart Schmidt is entering his third year at Methodist University. He is one of Methodist’s full time athletic trainers primarily responsible for the football and baseball teams. Schmidt is also a clinical preceptor in the Undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program at MU.
Schmidt graduated from Oregon State University in 2008 receiving a bachelor of science degree in exercise and sport science with an option in athletic training. Upon graduation, he worked at an Orthopedic and Neurosurgery clinic in Bend, Ore. and as the head athletic trainer at Sisters High School for two years. He recently graduated from the University of Florida in May 2012 with a master of science degree in athletic training and a residency in strength and conditioning. While at UF, he served as the head athletic trainer at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla.
Throughout his professional career Schmidt has experience working with athletics of all levels including NCAA Division I and II athletics, minor league baseball, high school, and at an out-patient physical therapy clinic. As well as being a certified athletic trainer, he is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Schmidt is a native of Beaverton, Ore. and currently resides in Fayetteville, N.C. He married his wife, Shiann, in October 2012.
