The Tutoring Center Mission Statement
The mission of the Methodist University Tutoring Center is to provide
students with individual academic support services to strengthen
their academic skills.
The Goals of the Tutoring Center are:
- to offer excellent tutoring sessions to all students who request
this service, and
- to seek opportunities to facilitate student usage of tutoring
services.
Peer and Professional Tutoring
There are two categories of tutors at Methodist University: peer
tutors and professional tutors. Peer tutors
are students at Methodist University who are upperclassmen with
strong performance records in specific disciplines. All peer tutors
have a 3.0 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a B in their tutoring
subject area. In addition, peer tutors have been recommended to
the Tutoring Center by faculty members in their area. Professional
tutors have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the
subject(s) they are tutoring and have also been selected for their
excellent academic record and recommendations.
Please note:
Students may come to the North Administration Building at any time
the schedule indicates that tutoring is available. No appointments
are necessary. Students should bring books and applicable supplementary
materials. Exam week exception:
Please call ahead to confirm the tutoring schedule.
