Academic Warning and Academic Probation

Academic Warning and Probation Policy

A lthough the evaluation of a student’s performance is an ongoing process, the academic standing (good standing, academic warning, probation, and suspension) will be assessed as indicated below:

  1. The academic standing (good standing, academic warning, probation, or suspension) is assessed at the end of the autumn and spring academic periods.
  2. The status of academic warning is applied whenever a student’s cumulative GPA is less than 2.0 but higher than the probation level.
  3. The status of academic probation is applied in accordance with the performance levels below:

    **Hours attempted include all hours attempted at Methodist University and all applicable transfer credits.
     
  5. Students who are on academic warning must adhere to the following:
    1. Enroll in 12-15 semesters hours.
    2. Repeat all failed courses that are core requirements for their degree or required for their major.
    3. If students have not already done so, enroll in and earn a minimum grade of C in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) 115—Study Skills.
    4. Maintain regular contact with their academic advisors.
  6. Students on academic probation must adhere to all of the following:
    1. Enroll in 12-15 semesters hours.
    2. Repeat all failed courses that are core requirements for their degree or required for their major.
    3. If students have not already done so, enroll in and earn a minimum grade of C in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) 115—Study Skills.
    4. Maintain regular contact with their academic advisors.
