Welcome to the School of Graduate Studies at
Methodist University!
The
programs we offer extend the University’s overall mission
to the graduate level, combining a professional emphasis with scholarship
and critical analysis, and instilling in their graduates the importance
of lifelong learning to support professional development.
Currently, the School of Graduate Studies
offers three Master’s degree programs: A Master of Medical
Science (MMS) in Physician Assistant Studies, a Master of Business
Administration, and a Master of Justice Administration.
The Master of Medical Science in Physician
Assistant Studies
The MMS in PA Studies is accredited at the national level by the
Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistants
(ARC-PA) and is recognized as a very high quality and competitive
program. The program, which started at a bachelor’s level
program, began in 1996. Ninety-eight percent of the graduates are
practicing physician assistants in a variety of medical settings
and specialties. Eighty-six percent of the program’s graduates
currently practice in North Carolina. For more information, please

The Professional Master of Business Administration
The Professional MBA at Methodist University has a focus on organizational
management and leadership, and is targeted toward professionals
who have three years (or more) of working experience, and want to
further develop their skills and careers. Classes will be held two
weekends each term at the Reeves School of Business in Clark Hall
at Methodist University, while additional instruction will be online.
This MBA program features traditional MBA core courses, as well
as emphasis courses in organizational management and leadership.

The Professional MBA at Pinehurst has a focus on golf, tennis,
and resort management, and is targeted toward professionals in these
industries who have three years (or more) of working experience
and want to further develop their skills and careers. Classes will
be held on specified dates three weekends per term at the world-class
Pinehurst Resort in nearby Pinehurst, NC, and additional instruction
will be online. This unique MBA program features a traditional MBA
core of courses featuring cases from the target industries, as well
as emphasis courses that cover specialty areas within those same

The Master of Justice Administration
The Master of Justice Administration (MJA) program is targeted
toward professionals working in the criminal justice system at the
local, county, or state level in North Carolina in middle management
positions who want to develop their skills and careers further.
The MJA program was recently approved by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the regional accrediting body for
Methodist University. The MJA program will begin classes in January
2006. Classes will be held on specified dates at the North Carolina
Justice Academy in nearby Salemburg, NC, and additional instruction
