Interest form - IDS 2100 facilitators

Thank you for your interest in leading a reading circle! IDS 2100 exposes students to relatively recent (published in the last 20 years or so) high-quality recreational reading, both fiction and non-fiction. All books selected for the reading list should be in print and readily available. QEP Reading Circle facilitators compile a list of fifteen books based around a particular genre (e.g., science fiction) or topic (e.g., sports) from which the four books read by each student will be chosen. Training workshops and a facilitator's manual will be provided for instructors.

Reading circle facilitators must hold a master's degree or higher and are paid for 1 semester hour at the rate based on their faculty rank.

From the MU academic catalogue:
IDS 2100 READING CIRCLE 1 s.h.
The Reading Circle is a one semester-hour credit reading group designed to promote self-selected reading. Reading comprehension and critical thinking skills will be strengthened through group discussion, journaling, and response papers. Class sections representing a changing variety of genres are offered every semester. This course may be repeated for up to three hours of credit. Prerequisite: IDS 110 (unless exempt from IDS 110). This course is a core requirement for any student not completing at least one semester of the Honors Program.
