Accelerated MBA

Accelerated MBA

Undergraduate seniors, apply now to begin MBA classes in Spring or Fall!

The Accelerated MBA program allows business students to enroll in the MBA program and begin taking graduate level courses during the senior undergraduate year.  Qualified business students should apply now to begin MBA classes in spring or fall of their senior year.

Students in the Accelerated Program would have to consider other financial options to pay for the graduate level courses while an undergraduate student. When the student receives the undergraduate degree, he or she could then apply for graduate student loans, if necessary.

Accelerated Program Details

The Accelerated MBA Program will not change the total number of undergraduate hours required for an undergraduate degree and will not change the number of graduate hours required for the graduate degree. Undergraduate students will continue to complete 124 credit hours of undergraduate work for that degree and complete 36 hours of graduate work to earn the MBA degree.

The MBA Program at Methodist University is a blended program and provides face to face interaction with faculty and classmates, and provides the flexibility of online learning between on campus meetings. The student will attend classes on campus twice per 8 week term and attend class in an online environment in between the face to face meetings. Classes meet on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

The criteria for undergraduate students to be admitted into the accelerated program are as follows:

  • Undergraduate students must complete the MBA Program application.
  • Undergraduate students should have a minimum of 100 undergraduate credit hours to be admitted into the Accelerated MBA program.
  • Prerequisite business courses include Principles of Marketing, Managerial Finance and the Reeves School of Business Foundation Core. The RSB Foundation Core consists of the following courses: Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Statistics for Business and Economics.
  • Undergraduate students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
  • Undergraduate students must submit a complete application including letters of recommendation.
  • Undergraduate students will not be required to take the GMAT or MAT and will not be required to have an undergraduate degree.
  • Applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
  • An interview may be required of the applicant.

For an undergraduate student accepted into the accelerated MBA program, the following applies:

  • Undergraduate students will complete the undergraduate degree by taking the necessary courses (12 undergraduate credits) during each semester of the senior year.
  • Students will take 6 credits of graduate level courses each semester of the senior year.
  • Graduate courses are 8 weeks in length and are a blended format. The student will attend face to face courses on weekends and attend class in an online environment in between the face to face meetings.
  • The credit requirement for the MBA degree remains the same (36 credit hours).
  • Students must complete the undergraduate degree to be awarded the graduate degree.
