Annual Minister's Luncheon
Methodist
University held its luncheon for Alumni, Ministers, and Friends
during the Annual Conference of the North Carolina Conference of
the United Methodist Church (NCCUMC) on June 13 in Greenville, N.C.
All of Greenville was under a pall of smoke from the huge Pocosin
Lakes National Wildlife Refuge wildfire to the east, but that didn’t
phase Conference luncheon participants, who enjoyed food and fellowship
before hearing a University update from its President, Dr. M. Elton
Hendricks.
Bill Billings ’68, told the group about his forthcoming history
of Methodist’s first 50 years, due out in fall 2008, and Bob Thompson
’67, talked about his newly published book, Wisdom, Apples, and
Black Roses. Other alumni in attendance were Rev. Gil Wise ’83,
Linda Wise ’83, Rev. Henry W. Lee ’73, Rev. Vernon W. Brown ’79,
Rev. Kong S. Namkung ’91, Rev. Dr. Mike Safley ’72, Rev. James Malloy
’78, Rev. Ray Gooch ’72, Dr. Tommy Yow ’66, Rev. Dr. Wes Brown ’73,
Rev. Dr. Dennis Sheppard ’77, Rev. Hope Vickers ’91, Wanda Casteel
’93, and Rev. Larry Parker ’06.
