Methodist University [ Engage. Enrich. Empower. ] : MU on the Move!

MU on the Move! Invites Alumni and Friends to Join the Journey in 2014-2015!

Under the leadership of President Ben Hancock, Jr., MU is truly on the Move! He and other representatives of MU will be traveling across the country to meet with alumni and share exciting new developments at the University! Attend an event near you and learn about the new Campus Master Plan and the MU Journey designed to enhance student success.  We'll also discuss how you can plug in and Join the Journey through the emerging Monarch Network, which involves Career Assistance, Student Recruitment, Advisory Boards, Senior and Visiting Fellows, Regional Outreach, and other initiatives.

MU alumni visited Frogland Farms for the Annual Frogland Jam at MU Trustee and Alumni Association Board member Ed "Tuna" Keil's '70 home in Hampton Roads, Va., June 21, 2014.

Recent MU on the Moves! were held in conjunction with the NCCUMC Annual Conference June 11, 2014, with Bishop Hope Ward and others addressing a group of 65 MU Trustees, alumni ministers, alumni and friends about the planned World Ministry Center at Methodist.  Below, l to r:  Dr. Ben Hancock, Jr.; Rev. June 13, 2014 Monarch alumni and friends socialized and had a great time at the Legacy Lakes Tennis and Swim Clubhouse near Pinehurst, N.C. during the U.S. Open weekend. 

Recent MU on the Moves! were held in conjunction with the MU Chorale's Spring Break tour through North Carolina and Tennessee to Nashville. Below is the reception following the Greensboro, NC concert. The Chorale also performed in Charlotte, NC; Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and Nashville, Tenn.

Over 100 PGA Management alumni networked at at the PGA Show MU on the Move! in Orlando on Thursday, January 23, 2014.

Alumni in the Washington, DC area braved a snowstorm to meet February 4, 2013!

The latest MU on the Move! was a dinner held in Atlanta on Monday, December 9.

MU on the Move! stopped in Raleigh, NC November 19 for great food and fellowship!

MU on the Move! visited Swansboro, NC October 8, 2013

A special MU on the Move! was held by the Charlotte MU Alumni Group at Bob-a-lu's Bar and Grill (Bob Dunn 70's). Below, President Hancock (far right) takes a moment to speak to the party-goers about the University.

MU on the Move! went to the Fayetteville SwampDogs July 26 and over 120 MU alumni, faculty, and staff joined in for a pre-game picnic and half-price tickets for the ball game.  Great family fun for everyone!

MU on the Move!
went to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia for the 12th Annual Frogland Jam held to celebrate the summer solstice at Ed "Tuna" Kiel's '70 Frogland Farms.  The food was fabulous, the Bar Tones band played into the night, and there was dancing under the stars! Below is the Methodist University group -- 250 people attended Tuna's event!

MU on the Move! went to Bangkok, Thailand! Dr. and Mrs. Hancock and Rev. Dr. Mike Safely met with several MU alumni while enjoying a tour of the country this summer.


MU on the Move! hosted Methodist's Annual Dinner at Annual Conference.  Trustee Emeritus Tom Walden was awarded the President's Medallion during the afternoon's NCCUMC Annual Conference session, and MU's praise and worship band Common Ground and gospel choir One Voice performed.  Below, One Voice performing for alumni minister and friends dinner guests at Parker's Barbecue in Greenville, NC, June 13.

An April event in the MU on the Move! series was hosted by the Charlotte MU Alumni Group and featured a day at the Queen's Cup Steeplechase with an MU tent on the rail at Heartbreak Hill. Carlos McCracken '69 gives a thumbs up below for a great day at the races!

Several MU on the Moves! were held in conjunction with the MU Chorale's spring concert tour, in Wilmington, NC; Myrtle Beach, SC; and Charleston, SC. Below is former choral director Alan Porter directing the Chorale in the Methodist Alma Mater at the Wilmington event.

The Charlotte MU Alumni Chapter held a Social at The Music Factory March 7 and MU on the Move! was there!

The most recent MU on the Move! was held in Richmond, VA at The Boathouse Restaurant at Rocketts Landing in February. Alums came from as far away as Charlottesville and Virginia Beach!

MU on the Move! went to Orlando, FL during the PGA Show at the Convention Center in January.  Over 90 PGM alumni, faculty, and friends gathered to socialize and hear from President Hancock and others about MU's programs and progress.

An MU on the Move! was held in Fayetteville on the MU campus in late November 2012 in conjunction with the Annual All Choirs Concert, with alumnus Richard Butler '88's Southview H.S. choir performing along with the MU Choral groups.  Below, Dr. Hancock introduces SGA President Will Patton to say a few words to the alumni, Faculty, and students at the reception.

Over 70 MU Alumni and retired and current Faculty and Staff gathered in the elegant new Reeves Auditorium Lobby for the May 10 MU on the Move!
