The
Biology Department occupies approximately one-half of the Methodist
University Science Building. Currently we have six laboratories
that are used in teaching our courses. An NSF Grant provided equipment
for the large modern lab which houses the microbiology and cell
biology courses.
The stockroom, the introductory biology lab, a zoology
lab, and the Biochemistry and Biotechnology lab have recently
been remodeled and a greenhouse has been added. In the summer
of 2007, a new wing of the Science building was opened,
and several spacious new labs became available. A lecture
hall is also housed in the new wing, as well as a small
multi-purpose room which is available for such uses as study
groups and club meetings.
Almost all of our Biology courses incorporate a laboratory component.
One of the advantages of studying Biology at a smaller college is
that we provide ample opportunity for "hands on" application
of complex material discussed in class.
