Campus TV Service
WHY HIGH DEFINITION TV?
Methodist University is currently undergoing a major transition with its Cable Television system on campus this summer. We are leading the way to be one of the first and only campuses in the area to feature full High Definition (HD) Digital Television (HDTV) in our residence halls for our students without the need for a cable box. This new service utilizes Digital QAM tuners, which are found in most televisions made after 2005.
This new service will feature a slew of new programming, including the Golf Channel in HD and ESPN channels, multiple Fox Sports channels, Oxygen, and many others requested by students in previous years, all presented in crystal clear HD.
Students who have an HDTV already with a QAM tuner, you are good to go! They will experience a wide array of new channels available on campus at no additional charge, already included with their room.
WHAT IF I HAVE AN OLD TV?
Most televisions sold after 2005 have an integrated Digital QAM tuner required for the new upgraded service. If your television does not have an integrated QAM tuner, you will need to purchase an integrated TV tuner like the ones listed on our Residence Life Website, www.methodist.edu/housing/. These tuners may also be found at Amazon, Radio Shack, Sears or Best Buy. There will still be limited analog programming available for students who are not able to upgrade.
HOW DO I PROGRAM MY DIGITAL TV TO RECEIVE ALL THE UNIVERSITY CHANNELS?
If you have a digital TV, it is important to auto program your TV to ensure you are viewing all the available channels. Exact details on how to auto program or auto tune digital TVs vary by manufacturer and model. These instructions are generalizations meant to describe the way most TV accomplish this feature. For best results, refer to the owner's manual for the specific TV you are working with.
