MU Home » Academics » Center for Excellence in Justice Administration Calendar of EventsApril 5-6, 2012 Leadership in Dangerous Incidents and Cowpens Battlefield Leadership Terrain Walk: On the first day of the seminar Dr. Bowman will review the latest research and practices critical response leaders can use to prepare for, respond to, and recover from critical incidents. Participants can choose to participate in a short assessment of their ability to assess information and make decisions under stress. On the second day of the seminar Dr. Bowman will lead participants on a terrain walk at the Cowpens Battlefield where participants will examine the battlefield events on 1781 for lessons that can be applied to current leadership challenges. The first day of the seminar will be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm at the North Carolina Justice Academy (NCJA) Western Campus, Edneyville, NC. Participants will be provided overnight accommodations at the NCJA at no charge for the night of April 5th. Participants will be responsible for transportation from the NCJA to Cowpens Battlefield. April 16, 2012 Homicide Investigation Seminar and Cold Case Presentation: Featuring Cpt. Tom Bevel (ret.) Oklahoma City Police Department who will present on bloodstain pattern analysis and crime scene reconstruction. Tom is President of Bevel, Gardner and Associates. A special guest will be Supervisory Special Agent Steve Chancellor, M.F.S, Forensic Science Consultant, U. S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID). Following the seminar participants will receive two cold case presentations and be asked to provide feedback to the cold case investigators. The seminar and cold case presentations will be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm at Methodist University Reeves Auditorium. This opportunity is open to all law enforcement officers, crime analysts, and crime scene investigators, and is CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. The Center for Excellence in Justice Administration is funding the entire cost of this seminar and there is no cost to seminar participants. |
