The Quantum Leap Initiative
(QLI) program was developed as a means to motivate
and inspire gifted students. While students gain valuable
experiences inside the classroom, our best and brightest
students are too often learning from a perspective below
their potential. One objective of the QLI is to propel students
beyond their self-contained limits. Most of these young
people are never given a chance to reach their learning
potential. We want to give these ambitious, highly exceptional,
brilliant students a chance to think freely and create unambiguously.
We want students to rise above the status quo, and we feel
that only then will they be able to access the creative
genius that lies within. The first QLI program was held
prior to our Economic Outlook Symposium in November 2005.
Since then, students have participated in monthly programs
with local entrepreneurs and business owners. Each month,
students are given a multimedia presentation on the latest
updates in business, economics, and technology. Students
also receive a weekly newsletter via e-mail. One important
aspect of the QLI is setting maintaining goals. Students
report on the progress of their goals and learn to always
strive to do their best in their scholarly, professional
and personal life.
