News 'n' Notes

Voice Placements for both current and prospective COS members are scheduled as follows:

August 23: 2-5 p.m.
* Sopranos: 2:00-3:30 p.m.
* Altos: 3:30-5:00 p.m.

August 24: 2-5 p.m.
* Tenors: 2:00-3:30 p.m.
* Bass: 3:30-5:00 p.m.

After this point, all members or new members can be heard between 6:00-6:45 p.m. before Monday rehearsals on August 25, September 1, and September 8.

Maestro Michael says: If a returning member cannot make it during one of the assigned times, they are welcome to come during one of the other time slots. The assignment of times is for ease of the partitioning sections. People will be heard on a "first-come/first-serve" basis and can expect each voice placement to take between 5-10 minutes. Members need to understand that they "may" not end up in the seat to which they have been accustomed. This is certainly not a punitive measure. Voice placements are designed to do just that: not only determine the range in which a singer can comfortably perform, but also where a member will be placed (stand/sit) in the choir.

A letter will be going out to the membership in more detail at the end of July.
