To assist faculty and staff in personal planning for the upcoming
holidays, the following is a list of University Holidays through
New Years Day 2010. All full-time employees are eligible for holiday
pay.
When the University is open for a holiday, all University offices
and departments remain open and operational with a half staff. Employees
will take their holiday on one of the two days designated as holidays.
Under extreme circumstances the supervisor may arrange for an employee
to take leave on another day, but in all cases the holiday
will be taken in the month of the holiday.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: January
16, 2009 or January 19, 2009 University Open
Good Friday: April 10, 2009 or
April 13, 2009 University Open
Independence Day: July 3, 2009
University Closed
Labor Day: September 4, 2009 or
September 7, 2009 University Open
Thanksgiving: Thursday, November
26, 2009 University Closed
Friday, November 27, 2009 University Closed
Christmas: Thursday, December
24, 2009 University Closed
Friday, December 25, 2009 University Closed
In addition to the 3 days that the University is closed at Christmas,
all full-time employees will receive an additional
3 days off which must be taken during the weeks of November
23, 2009 through December 31, 2009.
All offices must remain open and operational during this 6 week
period with the exception of the 4 days closed at Thanksgiving and
Christmas, as listed above.
New Year’s Day: Friday, January
1, 2010 University Closed
All University Administrative Offices and the switchboard will
be open and operational throughout the Holiday Season except for
dates specified above.
Police and Security operations will be maintained throughout the
period. Scheduling is to be arranged by the Supervisors. Employees
in these categories who are required to work on the stated holidays
will be paid according to University policy.
Note: The pay date for contract
employees in November will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 and
the pay date for December will be on December 22, 2009.
