Congratulations to our colleague, Michael
Colonnese, recipient of both an Emerging Artist Grant from
the Regional Arts Council (serving Eastern North Carolina), and
a fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center. These grants will help
fund his sabbatical participation in a writer's program in Vermont.
Dr. Sharon Kendrick, Director
of Resort and Club Management, co-authored a paper and was accepted
to present at the North American Management Society/Midwest Business
Administration Association Conference in March, 2009. In addition,
Dr. Kendrick and her co-author, former dissertation chair, Dr. Melody
Wollan, Assistant Professor of Management at Eastern Illinois University,
have received an award for the paper.
"Choose life," a poem by Bill
Watt, has been published in the collection entitled Famous
Poets of the heartland: A treasury of beloved family poems.
Lavender Aurora is the poetry editor for the collection produced
by Famous Poets, Box 21, Talent, OR 97540.
Evan M. Bridenstine (Theatre Department)
appears as the ghost of Jacob Marley in The Gilbert Theater's production
of A Christmas Carol. The show opens Friday, November 28th and runs
through December 14th. For further information or reservations,

Theatre major Maegan Owens attended
the North Carolina Theatre Conference Screening Auditions in Greensboro
on November 21 and made it through the call-back session, meaning
that she will get to go on to the Southeastern Theatre Conference
Professional Auditions in Birmingham, Alabama, in March. SETC holds
auditions for theatre companies from all over the country for both
summer and year-round employment ranging from stock & repertory
companies to dinner theatres, cruise lines, outdoor summer theatres,
to children's, touring and theme park venues. Maegan is the first
Methodist University Theatre major in more than fifteen years to
be selected to attend these professional auditions.
