Effective April 25, 2017: IRS Tax Returns Filers - In lieu of using the IRS DRT (currently not available), or obtaining an 2015 IRS Return Transcript, a SIGNED paper copy of the 2015 IRS Tax Return (1040, 1040A, 1040EZ) that was used by the tax filer for submission to the IRS is acceptable documentation to verify FAFSA 2015 tax return information. 

Verification of Nonfiling - Parents, Student and/ or Spouse (if married) are no longer required to provide proof from the IRS of non-filing a federal 2015 tax return.  However, as currently required, Parents, Student and/or Spouse (if married)

 MUST provide to the school

  1.  A signed statement certifying that the individual (Parent 1, Parent 2, Student and /or spouse if married) has NOT filed and is NOT REQUIRED to file a 2015 income tax return, and a listing of the sources of any 2015 income earned by the individual from work and the amount of income from each source; AND
  2.  A copy of IRS form W-2, or an equivalent document, for each source of 2015 employment income received by the individual.
