ATHLETIC TRAINING
The Athletic Training Scholarship is awarded by the head
of the Athletic Department to students who have declared
their major in Athletic Training. Award amount is determined
by the student’s grade level in University. Students
can receive up to $1,000 in their first year, up to $1,500
in their second year and up to $2,000 in their third year.

CARILLON
The Carillon Scholarship is awarded to the editor of the
University’s yearbook. The maximum award per academic
year is $500.00 ($250 per semester). The scholarship is
made official at the end of the semester only after the
student has completed his/her task. This scholarship is

CHEERLEADING AND DANCE
TEAM
The Cheerleading and Dance Team Scholarship is awarded by
the head(s) of the cheerleading and dance teams. The maximum
award per academic year is $750 ($350 per semester). The
student must be enrolled as full-time day, achieve and maintain
a minimum 2.0 GPA, and attend the required activities as
set by the head of the cheerleading and dance teams. The
scholarship is made official at the end of the semester
only after the student has completed his/her requirements.

DEBATE
Methodist University offers scholarships in the amount of
$800 per academic year to in-coming freshmen or $400 per
academic year to currently enrolled students. The scholarship
recipients are required to actively pursue research, organize,
practice, and compete in events as well as conduct on-campus

ENGLIGH & WRITING
The English & Writing Scholarship is awarded by the
Department of English. The recipients must be enrolled full
time day as English majors, must demonstrate a minimum GPA
of 3.4 and SAT/ACT score of 1100/24. The maximum award per
student is $500.00 and is awarded in conjunction with the
Presidential Scholars program ranging from $3,500 to $10,500.
The scholarship is renewable on the premise of remaining
an English major for subsequent years. This scholarship

LEADERSHIP
The Leadership Scholarship is awarded to students who minor
in Leadership Studies. The scholarship is worth up to $1000
per academic year. Recipients are chosen based on GPA, active
participation in the events sponsored by the Lura S. Tally
Center for Leadership Development and their leadership potential.

MU STAGE BAND
Methodist University offers a Stage Band Scholarship in
the amount of $500 per academic year ($250 per semester).
The music faculty awards the scholarship and students must
audition to be considered. The following conditions must
be met for a student to maintain or renew this scholarship:
a minimum 2.0 GPA, a consistent demonstration of a positive,
cooperative attitude, mastery of all notes and rhythms outside
of rehearsal, and consistent punctuality. The scholarship

MISS FAYETTEVILLE
Methodist University will offer a scholarship in the amount
of $3500 per academic year ($1750 per semester) to the winner
of the Miss Fayetteville Pageant. The scholarship is renewal

MONARCH PEP BAND
The Pep Band Scholarship is awarded by the Director of the
Pep Band. The maximum amount of the scholarship per student
is $500 per year ($250 per semester). The scholarship recipients
must be full time day and are required to perform in a certain
number of sporting events. The scholarship is not made official
until the end of the semester upon notification (in writing)

MUSIC PERFORMANCE (MUSVE)
“ONE SPIRIT”
Music Performance Scholarship provides up to a $3000 scholarship
annually to each member of the performance ensemble, who
represents the University at churches, meetings of schools,
and civic organization. For a student to maintain or renew
this scholarship, the following criteria must be met: a
minimum 2.0 GPA, a consistent demonstration of a positive,
cooperative attitude, mastery of all notes and rhythms outside
of rehearsal, consistent punctuality, enrollment in MU Chorus
and enrollment in at least 1 sh credit of voice (for singers)
or piano (for accompanist) . The recipients are chosen annually
as a result of auditions and must agree to perform in scheduled
off campus programs each semester during which they receive
this scholarship. Recipients must also be full-time students
enrolled in regular (day) academic program. Contact the

RESIDENT ADVISOR SCHOLARSHIP
(RA SCHOLARSHIP)
The RA Room Scholarship is available to rising sophomores
or above who have lived on campus for one year and have
maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.25. Once selected by the
Office of Student Life, the Office of Financial Aid is notified
and adds the scholarship to the student’s award letter
in the amount of his/her room charge. The scholarship is
not considered part of the institutional cap. The amount
varies depending on which residence hall the student resides.

ROTC ACADEMIC
Students who are awarded a three-year Army ROTC scholarship
are also awarded an ROTC Academic Scholarship from Methodist
University to assist in defraying expenses. If the ROTC
Scholarship is at least $3000, commuting students will be
awarded $3000 each year of their Army ROTC Scholarship and
resident students will be awarded $4000 each year of their
Army ROTC Scholarship. In the event the ROTC Scholarship
is less than $3000, Methodist University will match the
scholarship dollar for dollar. This scholarship cannot be
combined with any other Methodist University Funded Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded to the president of the Student
Government Association in the amount of $1000 per academic
year. The scholarship is not considered part of the institutional

The sMALL TALK Scholarship is awarded to the editor of Methodist’s
newspaper. The maximum amount of the scholarship is $500
per year ($250 per semester) and is credited to the student’s
account only after the student has successfully completed

STONE
This scholarship is awarded annually to students within
the North Carolina Annual Conference who are district finalists
as an “Outstanding Senior”, are accepted as
Freshmen to Methodist University and have a minimum GPA
of 3.0 in high school. Renewal of the scholarship is based
upon the student maintaining a cum GPA of at least a 2.5.
TAPESTRY
This scholarship is awarded annually to the editor of the
Tapestry. Tapestry is a publication by
The Monarch Press of poems and stories. The maximum amount
of the scholarship is $1000 for the academic year ($500
per semester). The scholarship is not considered as part
of the institutional cap. The scholarship is considered
pending and is officially awarded at the end of the semester
upon notification from the English Department. Contact the

THEATRE PERFORMANCE
This scholarship is awarded to selected students who audition
for the Theatre Department. The selected students agree
to tour with a performing group each semester during which
they receive this scholarship. The scholarship is worth
up to $3000 annually. Recipients must also be full-time
