curriculum has been developed with 16 essential competencies:

The student must demonstrate competency in:
- Ability to speak effectively and listen attentively.

- Ability to write effectively and with a purpose.

- Ability to analyze financial reports. (BHC 350

- Ability to manage and communicate financial
impacts of various payment systems. (BHC 350, 410)
- Knowledge of capitation and reimbursement mechanisms
and costs of providing services. (BHC 410, 450)
- Ability to manage time, set priorities, and
complete tasks in a timely manner. BHC 450, 480)
- Ability to conduct gain-gain negotiations with
physicians, colleagues, and managed care organizations. (BHC 410,
480)
- Knowledge of evaluating managed care contracts,
and negotiating skills to improve the contract and when to accept
or reject a contract. (BHC 410)
- Ability to measure, correct, monitor and re-measure
quality improvement issues. (BHC 205,330,450)
- Ability to evaluate and analyze the cost of
providing health services and integrate the information for presentation.

- Ability to synthesize and present information.

- Ability to facilitate group decisions and build

- Ability to conduct organizational strategic
