Methodist University awards three degrees in History:
B.A. (Bachelor of Arts)
Requirements for the major: 30 s.h. in history at the 200 level or above, including 201, 202, 210 and 455. HIS 104 is required for the core requirements, but does not count toward the 30 hours required for the major.
Requirements for the minor: 18 s.h. in History at the 200 level or above, including 210 and either 201 or 202. HIS 104 is required for the core requirements, but does not count toward the 18 hours required for the minor.
Requirements for the A.A. concentration: 18 s.h. in History at the 200 level or above, including 201, 202 and 210. HIS 104 and one other history course are required for the core requirements and do not count toward the 18 hours required for A.A. concentration.
Requirements for licensure in Social Studies: (Coordinator: ) Completion of the requirements for a History major. The following elective courses are recommended within the History Major, but not required: HIS 103, HIS 301, 305, 362, and 411. Licensure students must also take: ECO 261 or 262, Geo 252, PSC 151, SOC 151 or SOC 256, and three more semester hours from any social science besides history (for example, economics, political science, psychology, or sociology); EDU 200, 242, 250, 251, 300, 320, 342, 350, 406, 407, 412, 421; SPE 255.
