Being a
part of the Methodist University family has many benefits. Methodist
University has over 2,200 students. Resident students enjoy living
in modern residential halls situated on our lush 617-acre campus.
Although married student housing is not available on campus, each
residence hall offers 24-hour security, cable TV, telephone service,
Internet connections, laundry facilities, and resident advisors
on each floor. We also have an 18-hole golf course on campus, tennis
courts, a football stadium surrounded by a running track, a soccer
complex, "beach" volleyball courts, a gym with state-of-the-art
equipment, a nature trail, and much more. There are student activities
to attend, over 60 clubs on campus, and several forms of entertainment
scheduled each semester. This schedule features comedians, movies,
and magicians. Additionally, there are many other activities to
enjoy around the Fayetteville area.
As an added benefit, Methodist University has police and security
officers on patrol 24 hours a day to ensure your personal safety.
The officers provide services such as motor vehicle assistance,
lost and found, crime prevention, and a student escort service.
A security guard is also posted at the main entrance of the school
24 hours a day, and all residence halls are continuously locked.
We provide a safe environment so that all you have to worry about
are your studies.
Methodist University is in North Carolina's fourth largest metropolitan
area, is two hours from the coast, is not far from the Great Smoky
Mountains, and is in the heart of America's golf country.
Whether
you are a player or a spectator, MU fields one of the top small
college athletic programs in the country. On this campus we are
used to winning conference and national championships. MU has one
of the nation's finest NCAA Division III athletic programs with
19 varsity sports for men and women. It also has a nationally-certified
athletic training program. Our Professional Golf Management (PGM)
program is one of eight PGM programs sanctioned by the Professional
Golf Association (PGA). MU is considered to have one of the eight
best golf management programs in the country. One of the reasons
for this success is our challenging, private 18-hole golf course
located right on campus. Our tennis teams are also consistent national-level
winners in singles and doubles. You can even earn a degree in Professional
Tennis Management (PTM). If soccer is your game, then MU is the
place to play. Both men's and women's soccer teams have earned regional
and national recognition.
One of the advantages of choosing a college in the U.S. is that
it can provide you with the benefit of modern academic programs
and facilities that will better prepare you for your career. Methodist
University is always expanding to accommodate its students' needs.
Seven new academic and administrative buildings have been built
in the last four years, all of which contain state-of-the-art computer
systems. Our nationally recognized Computer Assisted Composition
Lab (CAC) is where you can fine-tune English writing skills. The
CAC is only one of seven modern computer centers located on our
campus. These computer centers provide automated services and Internet
access. Internet access is also available in all dormitory rooms.
Because of the unique challenges you face as an international student,
it helps to attend a small college where you can receive the attention
you need, when you need it. Sometimes in larger colleges, you may
be treated only as a number. At Methodist University, the classes
are small with a 16:1 student-professor ratio. This means you will
benefit from a close, one-on-one relationship with your professors.
They will get to know you by your first name, and you will be able
to look to them for guidance throughout your career at Methodist
University. You will also have more than 50 areas of study to choose
from and an advisor to help you with one of the most important decisions
of your life.
We know that language and cultural differences can make studies
more challenging. To help you meet those challenges, Methodist University
provides valuable support sources to help enhance your academic
experience. Some of these are the Tutoring Center, The English Language
Instruction Lab (ESL), and the English Writing Center. The Tutoring
Center provides professional tutors as well as a complete library
of computer tutorials, instructional videos, and other learning
aids. The ESL and English writing lab are here to assist students
who wish to improve their English skills in reading, writing, and
speech.
