Jazz Monarchs

MUS 3980-3990

Directed by Dr. Daniel McCloud
Rehearses: Monday & Wednesday 1:00-1:50 p.m.

The Jazz Monarchs afford students at Methodist University the opportunity to perform a variety of jazz and contemporary styles. Membership in the Jazz Monarchs is open to all students regardless of academic major, and is available to instrumentalists as well as vocalists who are seeking to enrich their experience in jazz music. While primarily designed for saxophone, trombone, trumpet, and rhythm (piano, bass, guitar, and percussion), any students wishing to perform in this ensemble should contact the Director for part availability. The Jazz Monarchs perform several times throughout the fall and spring semesters, both on campus and off.

Participation scholarships are available to all students (regardless of major) who wish to play in one or more MU instrumental ensembles. Marching Band students will be granted a $1000.00 scholarship regardless of major. Pep-Band students will be awarded $500.00 for participation after marching season. Music Majors and Minors are eligible to compete for one of two $3000.00 departmental scholarships. Additional scholarship money may be awarded to exceptional students depending on the availability of scholarship funds.
