Faithful Place by Tana French
I have to start this with I am a true Tana French fan! I enjoyed her earlier books, In the Woods and The Likeness. Faithful Place explores a character from the other books who was a supporting character but is now the primary.
Frank Mackey is forced to return to his roots in Dublin’s inner city, the neighborhood of Faithful Place when the remains of his childhood sweetheart are found. He thought that she had run away years ago, but instead she was killed. Although he is a police officer, he works during his off-time to find her murderer. This is a tightly plotted story with a great deal of insight into the workings of families and how they grow and interact. I loved it!
