Do you like action movies? Do James Bond movies make your heart race? Then you might want to try India Black by Carol K. Carr. This book is full of action but is not particularly believable. The idea of a madam turned spy is kind of hard to swallow, and I had been hoping that it had been better thought through. If you don’t need your book to be plausible, this book will work. It’s a caper-type story with the characters reeling from one catastrophe to the next. The tone of the writing is light and fun, and the chase scenes are interesting and are easily visualized as playing out on the big screen. So, for me, the book was okay, not good, not great, but definitely okay.
