The Red Pyramid By Rick Riordan

Rick Riordan is also the author of the popular series Percy Jackson that follows the Greek gods.  The Red Pyramid, however, follows the Egyptian gods and has two heroes, brother and sister Carter and Sadie Kane.  After reading The Red Pyramid I was surprised that I liked this series better.  It starts by explaining the different lives of Carter and Sadie.  Carter travels the world with his dad, who is an Egyptologist, while his sister Sadie lives in England with her grandparents.  Carter and Sadie only see each other once or twice a year.  This time when they meet, though, their dad is acting strange, looking over his shoulder watching for people.  Their dad takes them to a museum were he then looks at the Rosetta stone.  Through some weird occurrence the stone explodes and their dad is suddenly missing.  Now Carter and Sadie have no idea what is going on and must find out what has happened to their dad, and why all this other weird stuff is occurring.  Overall I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next one of the series.
