This book is the second part of the The Magicians. The Magician King starts with Quentin and his friends, who are now the king and queens of Fillory, which is the magical kingdom that they read about as children that they have recently discovered is a real place. Although one of the kings of Fillory, Quentin is starting to wonder whether there is not more to being a king than lounging around. He yearns for adventure. As it so happens, after Quentin sets off to collect taxes from an outer island of Fillory, he runs right into it. The book goes on with Quentin and Julia, one of the queens of Fillory being deported back to Earth, and shares her backstory, explaining how she is the way she is. In all this was a really good book. I am looking forward for the next book in the series.
