MU Home » Academics » Davis Memorial Library » Research Help » Individualized Research Assistance Individualized Research AssistanceThe Davis Memorial Library now offers Individualized Research Assistance (IRA) to students in need of identifying appropriate resources for their research assignments. You may schedule an appointment for assistance online. IRA will only be given during the times allotted on the registration form. Students should schedule appointments at least two weeks in advance of the assignment due date, but appointments may be made one full week prior to the due date of the assignment. A confirmation email will be sent to registrants. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions last 50 minutes. Please submit your request at least 48 hours before your desired session. GuidelinesFirst MeetingStudents must present the following items at the first meeting: AttendanceIf a student fails to show up for an appointment he or she will be documented as a no- show. Failure to show up within 10 minutes of a scheduled appointment is considered a no-show. Failure to bring a copy of the assignment and a working thesis statement will result in the cancellation of the appointment. This will be charged as a no-show. Three documented no-shows will result in the student not being permitted to schedule an appointment again with in the semester. CancellationStudents may cancel an appointment by calling 630-7645. You may leave a message on the voicemail if calling outside of operating hours. Cancellations must be made no later than 8:00 a.m. on the morning of the scheduled appointment. Cancellations done appropriately will not be documented as a no-show. General InformationPlease keep in mind that the librarian is here to help you get started on your research. The librarian may also provide guidance throughout the duration of the research process; however, the librarian is not here to conduct all of the research for you. Nor is the librarian here to evaluate, proofread, or critique writing. Of course, you can always get assistance with any research inquiry at the Reference desk. |
