Borrowing Policies
Who Can Borrow?
Students
- Methodist University students with a University photo ID and validation sticker.
Faculty & Staff
- Methodist University faculty and staff with a University photo ID
Alumni & Ministers
General Public
- Community members and the general public can borrow items by joining the Friends of the Library. Membership is $25 per year.
How Do I Register to Borrow?
New students
- Obtain University ID from the Police and Public Safety Office.
- Go to the library and update your personal information.
Returning students
- Update University ID card with current validation sticker (from
Police and Public Safety).
- Update your personal information at the library at the start of each new Semester.
Faculty & Staff
- New faculty should bring their Methodist University ID to the library and complete a registration form.
Alumni & Ministers
General Public
- Participate in the Friends of the Library program. Apply at the Library.

Renewals
- Books can be renewed (only if the material is not overdue) online through the catalog (Use the "Your Account" button and log in with your last name and student ID number), by phone at 630-7645, or in person.
- Videos/DVDs can be renewed by phone or in person only. Note: When
renewing by phone, please have your ID Card (with barcode) and the item
barcode(s) available.

Fine & Fee Policies
Overdue Items
- Items that are less than 30 days overdue accrue fines at the rate of $.10 or $1.00 per day.
- Items more than 30 days overdue are declared lost; the replacement cost, billing and processing fees are posted to the student's account at the University Business Office. The replacement cost and processing fee are refundable if the item is returned. The billing fee is not refundable. These fees must be paid to the University Business Office.

Lost/Damaged Items
- All patrons are responsible for items that are lost or damaged while in their posession.
- Patrons are billed the replacement/repair cost for each item.
- Patrons may furnish the Library with a replacment copy. Please contact the Library before purchasing a replacement. The replacement copy must be in new condition and approved by the Library.
