Reference Librarians...
- will help you obtaining materials for your paper, project, or presentation.
- will conduct searches using Electronic Resources to locate citations or article that you can use in your project.
- will use reference materials, including encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, atlases, and statistical sources, to find an answers to a query or define a term or concept.
- will assist you in locating materials in the Davis Memorial Library or in other libraries' collections.
- will conduct web searches to locate appropriate materials.
- will assist you in formatting a citation for a works cited list.
- work with you as a team.
Reference Librarians...
- will not choose a topic for you. The librarians will direct you to sources to help you decide on a topic, but they will not select your topic for you.will not proof-read your paper. You can make an appointment at the Writing Center or see your instructor for assistance.
- will not do your paper for you. You need to take the lead in the research process.
- do not work unattended. You cannot leave a list of what you want and come back later.
- do not work with patrons who are engaged in cell phone conversations. Finish your call, and then ask for help.
