Letter #9
To: Madam?
From:  Lafayette
Date: March 24, 1830
In English

Dear Madam

Your kind commands have been transmitted to me by your friend Matilda. I am doubly gratified by the flattering testimonies of esteem which they report and by the opportunity you give me to (portend) my respects to you. The impression you have left upon us is equally deep and affectionate. Be pleased to offer to your friend the grateful sense I have of His highly valued (illegible) to me, and to accept the best wishes and regards in which the whole family do happily join.
