The contest is open to residents of North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida who have not yet published a full-length collection of poetry.

New in January 2007: Expanded Mission Guidelines
Poets living in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast (CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, and VT) may submit a manuscript, along with a $35 reading fee, from January through May of each year. However, please contact us by before sending a manuscript, and we’ll respond with specific guidelines.
