As a reasonably priced test administered in 60 minutes,
the MAT represents an excellent option for candidates applying
to any of the hundreds of graduate programs that accept
MAT scores for admission.
- The MAT is a high-level mental ability test requiring
the solution of problems stated as analogies.
- Performance on the MAT is designed to reflect candidates’
analytical thinking, an ability that is critical for success
in both graduate school and professional life.
- Through analogies with content from various academic
subjects, MAT scores help graduate schools identify candidates
whose knowledge and abilities go beyond mere memorizing
and repeating information.
- The analytical skills measured by the MAT are key to
success in graduate school and are highly valued by graduate
programs.

Analogies Test (MAT) at www.milleranalogies.com
MillerAnalogies.com contains the most current and complete
information about the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). It includes
information about applying to take the test, the contents
of the test, and what happens after you have taken the test.
The website also includes strategies for solving analogies
and sample items.
There are several equivalent forms of the MAT administered
in both computer-based and paper-and-pencil versions. The
MAT is administered through a network of Controlled Testing
Centers (CTCs) licensed by Harcourt Assessment, Inc. Harcourt
Assessment has rigorous procedures that all CTCs must follow
to administer the MAT. However, each CTC establishes its
own testing schedule, application process, and fees.
Candidates apply directly to a specific CTC to take the
MAT. Though Harcourt Assessment does all the scoring and
reporting of scores for the MAT, the CTCs are responsible
for administering the test.
