Monarchs Honored as USA South Athletes of the Week
Methodist student-athletes receive weekly conference honors

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South has announced their athletes of the week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Koby King has been named the USA South Football Defensive Player of the Week. The Mt. Gilead, North Carolina sophomore free safety led the Monarchs in tackles and grabbed an interception in a, 27-23, win over USA South foe Maryville. King accumulated 18 total tackles, including six solo take downs. King's interception came in the second quarter and led to a Methodist touchdown which put the Monarchs ahead 13-7. Finally, King was also credited with a pass break-up in the win.

Te'Varaz Fullmore has been selected as the USA South Offensive Rookie of the Week. The freshman wide receiver from Burlington, North Carolina caught four passes for 100 yards with two touchdowns in a, 27-23, win over USA South foe Maryville. Fullmore's ten-yard touchdown reception with 2:23 remaining in the second half turned out to be the game-winning score. His other touchdown catch went for 66 yards in the final minute of the first half.

Whitney Roberson has been named the USA South Women's Soccer Player of the Week. The Kitty Hawk, North Carolina sophomore forward scored a key goal in a critical conference match-up last week and helped the Monarchs capture the USA South Regular Season Championship. In a 2-1 win over Greensboro, Roberson scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute to break a 1-1 tie. The Monarchs then defeated Meredith, 1-0, to finished the regular season undefeated in USA South play.

Hevyn Diers has been named the USA South Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week. The Tappan, New York freshman midfielder scored one goal and added one assist in two USA South wins for the Monarchs last week. In a 2-1 victory over Greensboro, Diers assisted on the game-winning goal which was scored in the 80th minute. In a 1-0 win at Meredith, Diers scored the lone and game-winning goal of the game early in the second half. The victory over the Avenging Angels earned the Monarchs the USA South Regular Season Championship.
