Named Head Dance Coach
Methodist alum returns to lead the Monarchs
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Athletic Director Bob McEvoy has announced
former Methodist student-athlete Kamina Fitzgerald has
been hired as the dance coach. Fitzgerald will take
over a program that has previously been combined with
the Methodist cheerleading team. release

Host Clinic for Cumberland County
More than 150
area children took lessons from Methodist student-athletes
FAYETTEVILLE,
N.C.— On August 25 the Methodist University Cheerleaders
hosted a one day cheerleading clinic for the Cumberland
County Parks and Recreation department recreational
cheerleading teams. Over 150 cheerleaders ranging from
ages 4-12 from across the county attended the event
held in the Nimocks Fitness Center. The All Girl and
Coed Cheerleading teams instructed the youth cheerleaders
in cheerleading fundamentals and demonstrated proper

Teams Earn Bids to Nationals
Monarchs opened
the year at camp in Myrtle Beach, SC
MYRTLE BEACH,
SC— The Methodist cheerleading team arrived on campus
last week for a few days of training before departing
for camp in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Both the Coed and All
Girl cheerleading teams received bids to the NCA College
Nationals in Daytona Beach, Fl. Senior Kathi Mason,
junior Tiffanie Wagner, and freshman Stephanie Shores
all received All-American honors. release

Team Just Short of Appearance in National Finals
Monarchs competed
in NCA Collegiate Cheer Competition in Daytona Beach,
Florida
DAYTONA BEACH, FL— The Methodist cheerleading team left
Tuesday night to travel to Daytona Beach for the National
Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Collegiate Cheer Competition.
The Monarchs competed in the Cheer Division II Preliminaries
Thursday afternoon and came up just one tenth of a point
away from reaching the finals.

Cheerleaders Donate To Enterprise High School
Eights students
lost their lives in F3 tornado in Enterprise,
Alabama
FAYETTEVILLE, NC— Earlier this month, a tornado
ripped through Enterprise, Alabama killing eight
students in Enterprise High School including two
cheerleaders. The Methodist University
cheerleading team came together with help from
the University Bookstore to donate items to the
students affected by the storm.

BALTIMORE, MD— The Baltimore Ravens cheerleading
team whittled down a group of more than 200
hopefuls to name the new roster of cheerleaders.
Former Methodist University cheerleader Gayna
Holcomb was selected as one of 19 stunt
performers on the NFL squad.
