Former Methodist Cheerleader Joins Baltimore Ravens' Squad
Gayna Holcomb survives competitive tryouts to earn a spot on the NFL cheerleading team

BALTIMORE, MD— The Baltimore Ravens cheerleading team whittled down a group of more than 200 hopefuls to name the new roster of cheerleaders.  Former Methodist University cheerleader Gayna Holcomb was selected as one of 19 stunt performers on the NFL squad.

Originally from Columbia, Maryland, Holcomb spent four years as a Methodist cheerleader before graduating in December of 2006 with a degree in social work.  "I am so excited," said Holcomb when asked about the achievement.  "Finally a dream come true!"

The Ravens squad is one of the more competitive teams in the NFL.  During the offseason, they will
typically meet for three or four hour training sessions once a week before increasing practices to twice a week during the season. The cheerleaders are responsible for attending home football games as well as charity events in the area.
