ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Baseball and Softball Teams Announced
Scott Russell and Rebekah Kelly honored for achievements in the classroom and on the field

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced their annual ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Baseball and Softball teams. Senior Scott Russell was named to the First Team while senior Rebekah Kelly earned Second Team honors.

A recent Methodist graduate, Russell earned a degree in Business Administration with a 3.83 GPA through the fall semester. Originally from Asheville, N.C., Russell started every game at shortstop for the Monarchs batting .355 on the season. Russell earned Second Team All-Conference honors while the team went on to finish with a 28-15-1 record.

Kelly is working to finish her degree in Justice Studies while maintaining a 3.21 GPA through the fall semester. A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Kelly led the Methodist softball team in hits, runs and triples this season while batting .404. Named the USA South Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Kelly also received First Team All-Conference honors as well as First Team All-Region recognition. The team went 35-12 this season advancing to the NCAA First Round Tournament where they finished fourth.
