February 18, 2008 Seth Kivett has been named the USA South Baseball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. The sophomore third baseman from Bear Creek, North Carolina hit .417 (10-for-24) with 11 runs scored, nine RBI, seven walks, one double and three home runs as the Monarchs went 4-2 last week. In a doubleheader split with Southern Virginia, Kivett went a combined 5-for-7 with six runs scored, five RBI, two walks, one double and two home runs. In a two-game sweep of Frostburg State, Kivett was 2-for-7 with three runs scored, four walks and one stolen base. Finally, in a two-game split with Lynchburg, Kivett went a combined 3-for-10 with two runs scored, one walk and four RBI on a grand slam home run. Jason Ridenhour has been named the USA South Baseball Rookie of the Week. The Spencer, North Carolina freshman appeared in two games last week, picking up one win. Ridenhour tossed a total of six innings, giving up two runs on two hits with six walks and seven strikeouts. In a 9-4 loss to Southern Virginia, Ridenhour pitched the final three innings without surrendering a run or a hit while walking two and striking out six. In a 13-11 victory over Lynchburg, Ridenhour earned the victory by entering in the fourth inning and pitching three innings, giving up two runs on two hits with four walks and one strikeout. For more
