Kivett, and Beck Honored as USA South Rookies of the Week
Methodist athletes chosen for the second time this season

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- 
The USA South has announced their athletes of the week.  The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Seth Kivett has been named the USA South Baseball Rookie Player of the Week.  The freshman third baseman from Bear Creek, North Carolina hit .474 (9-for-19) with three RBI, four runs scored, one walk, three doubles, one triple and one home run. In a doubleheader sweep of Emory & Henry, Kivett went 2-for-6 with two runs scored, two RBI, one walk, one stolen base and his first collegiate home run. In a doubleheader split with USA South rival Greensboro, Kivett went 6-for-8, including a 4-for-4 performance in game two, with two runs scored, one run batted in, two doubles and one triple.  The Monarchs will host Villa Julie on Tuesday at 4 pm.

Emily Beck has been named the USA South Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week.  The freshman from Tenafly, New Jersey appeared in six games last week for the Monarchs at the NFCA Classic and helped the team to a 4-2 record. Beck earned three wins while pitching 24.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on 19 hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts. Beck earned a 5-2 win over nationally-ranked and defending national champion Rutgers-Camden. Beck also picked up wins over Huntingdon and Mount Union last week.  The softball team will host the Early Bird Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Florence, South Carolina.
