March 27, 2007 FAYETTEVILLE, NC— The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Collegiate Baseball have released the first NCAA Division III poll of the season with the Methodist University Monarchs at number 21 in the country. The Monarchs, currently 18-7 overall, received 78 points in the voting after being previously unranked in the preseason poll. The team is ranked fourth in the South region behind Emory, Salisbury and Millsaps. Less than three weeks away from the USA South Conference Tournament, Methodist is 5-3 in a tie for first place with Ferrum and Christopher Newport. The USA South has four teams ranked in the south region poll with North Carolina Wesleyan added in the mix. Methodist will host Guilford College Tuesday at 7 pm before traveling to Lynchburg on Wednesday for a 3 pm start. This weekend the Monarchs will host Averett on Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. |
