Five Monarchs
Receive All-Conference Honors
Freshman Seth
Kivett and junior Chris Toth named to USA South
Second Team
FAYETTEVILLE, NC— The USA South Athletic
Conference has announced its All-Conference
awards for baseball. A total of 38
student-athletes have been named to the USA
South All-Conference teams for baseball.
Freshman Seth Kivett and junior Chris Toth are
second team selections while junior Scott
Russell, sophomore Brad Davis, and freshman Fred
Geisinger are honorable mention selections.
  Kivett has started every
game at third base for the Monarchs hitting .311
on the season. He leads the team in hits
(37), RBI (24), doubles (6), and home runs (2).
Kivett received Rookie of the Week honors twice
this season. Toth joined the Monarchs this
season as a transfer from Southeastern Community
College and broke into the starting rotation
early in the season for a 6-3 record entering
the conference tournament. Toth has a 2.92
earned-run average with 36 strikeouts in more
than 60 innings pitched.
Methodist
shortstop Scott Russell was chosen as an
honorable mention selection after hitting .273
this season with 11 RBI and a team-high 10
sacrifices. Davis has played 25 games in
right field for the Monarchs to rank second on
the team with a .329 batting average. Fred
Geisinger has served as the Monarchs go-to
relief pitcher to record a 3-0 record with 6
saves in 22 appearances. He holds a 2.41
earned-run average with 22 strikeouts in 33 and
two thirds innings pitched.
The Monarchs finished the conference play this
past weekend with a 23-9 record overall and 7-5
in the USA South to earn the number one seed in
the conference tournament this weekend. As
the number one seed, Methodist has a bye first
round, but will play the winner of Greensboro
and Shenandoah Thursday at 8 pm.
