Geisinger Named USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Freshman pitched final five innings of 6-4 win over LaGrange on Sunday

 

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The USA South Athletic Conference announced their Athletes of the Week Tuesday afternoon for contests played this past week.  Fred Geisinger, a freshman pitcher on the Methodist baseball team, has been named the Rookie Pitcher of the Week in the first baseball honors of the season.

The Woodbridge, Connecticut freshman has appeared in one game so far this season. Geisinger came in relief in the fifth inning with the Monarchs trailing LaGrange, 4-3. Geisinger held LaGrange scoreless through the final five innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out three. Geisinger picked up his first career victory as Methodist eventually won the game, 6-4.

The baseball team will host Southern Virginia in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 1 pm.
