Monarchs Drop Second Game to Emory 3-2
Dustin Proctor and Kyle Eudy score for Methodist

ATLANTA, GA- Down 2-0 in the top of the fourth, the Monarchs capitalized on an Emory error to score two and tie the game.  Still tied going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Brandon Custer hit a home run to win it for the Eagles. Methodist moves to 4-2 overall, while Emory starts the season 2-0.

The Eagles scored first with a two-run third inning behind a RBI double by David Hissey before Frank Pfister's single scored the second run.  The Monarchs responded in the top of the fourth.  Junior Kyle Eudy singled and sophomore Dustin Proctor's double advanced Eudy to third.  Junior Scott Russell was hit by a pitch to fill the bases and with two outs freshman Seth Kivett reached first on an error that scored Eudy and Proctor.

Both teams were held scoreless until Custer led off the bottom of the seventh to hit what would be the game-winning homerun.  The Monarchs left a runner on third in four innings, but couldn't find the tying run.

Junior Chris Toth pitched the first seven innings for the Monarchs before freshman Fred Geisinger came in at the top of the eighth in relief.

The Monarchs will begin conference play on Saturday at Ferrum College at 1 pm.
