2004 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – With its season recently completed, the Methodist Monarch baseball team finished 16th on Thursday in the final Division III Top 25 poll of the 2004 season. Methodist had jumped 13 spots to 16th in the previous poll after a runner-up finish at the NCAA Division III South Regionals. The poll is sponsored by the Amercian Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Methodist, which finished its season at 30-19, received 105 points, three points ahead of 17th-ranked Trinity and five points in front of 18th-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Carthage is ranked 15th, 19 points ahead of Methodist, while La Verne is ranked 14th. 2004 NCAA Division III National Champion George Fox was ranked No. 1, followed by Eastern Connecticut State, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Aurora. In addition, the Monarchs also held strong within the South Region. Methodist finished tied with ninth-ranked Emory for second in the region, while eighth-ranked Salisbury is first. Rounding out the South Region is Mary Washington in fourth, followed by Virginia Wesleyan, York, Ferrum, Lynchburg and Millsaps. |
