It is an
exciting
time as
the
conference
race
heats up
and the
playoffs
approach
for the
2006
Monarch
Baseball
team.
It has
also
been an
exciting
week for
two
Monarch
alumni.
David
Hoffman,
a 2005
Methodist
graduate,
signed a
professional
deal on
Wednesday.
He was
selected
12th
overall
by the
Sioux
Falls
Canaries
in the
American
Association
Tryout
Camp
Draft.
Sioux
Falls
plays in
the
Northern
League,
a
Midwest
independent
baseball
league.
Blake
Maxwell,
also a
2005
Methodist
graduate,
got the
save on
opening
night
for the
Greenville
Drive, a
single A
affiliate
of the
Boston
Red Sox.
He came
on in
the
ninth
and
struck
out two
and
forced a
pop up
to end
the
game.
The game
was the
inaugural
game at
the new
West End
Field in
Greenville,
SC.
Maxwell
and
Hoffman
are the
19th and
20th
Methodist
Monarch
baseball
players
to play
professionally.
